The Enlightened Mind – Shaheed Bhai Harminder Singh Sandhu

Description When nations engage in struggles, it is natural for the fighters to make mistakes. We do not support calling a mistake treason, provided the courage is shown to admit the mistake. There is a German proverb: “To err is human, but to persist in error is devilish.” S. Harminder Sandhu was a warrior dedicated to the Panth, a scholar, and a strategist. Having suspicions about him and killing him by gunfire instead of discussing and reaching a conclusion was a grave sin. Claiming responsibility for this murder in newspapers and reiterating it despite sharp opposition from other militant organisations was an even greater sin. To prevent internal division, openly admitting mistakes is essentials for the national cause. The Roman saying, “Admitting a mistake acts like a balm for the soul,” is not without reason. Perhaps they think that publicly admitting a mistake might label them as irrational. But fearing being labelled irrational on one issue and, in turn, labelling a Panther personality as a “traitor” is not honest either. No individual who was part of the national struggle can be called a “traitor”, but labelling a Panth-loving and enlightened mind like S. Harminder Singh Sandhu as a traitor is equally unacceptable.
