Description This book was first published at Lahore in 1943 under the title of “Life and work of Mohan Lal Kashmiri, 1812-1877” Now it has been thoroughly revised and to some extent recast to suit the new title. In the twenties of the nineteenth century, the British Government of India was planning expansion both to the east and and to the north-west. From they capital at Calcutta they conquered lower Burma in 1825, and began penetration into China, resulting in the declaration of Opium War in 1839 and the occupation of Hong Kong in 1842.
